- 1 pound of spaghetti
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 6 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and cook, stirring frequently, for about 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the salt and black pepper.
- Once the spaghetti is cooked and drained, add it to the skillet with the garlic and oil. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the oil and garlic mixture.
- If the pasta seems a bit dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until the pasta is coated in a light sauce.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley over the spaghetti and toss to combine.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and parsley, if desired.
