Ramen is a Japanese dish consisting of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and topped with ingredients such as sliced pork, nori (dried seaweed), scallions, and boiled eggs. It has become a popular and well-known dish around the world.

The history of ramen can be traced back to China, where wheat noodles were first introduced during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It wasn't until the late 19th century, however, that ramen as we know it today was born in Japan.

In 1910, a man named Yokohama Yoshimuraya opened a Chinese-style restaurant in Tokyo that served wheat noodles in a broth.

As the dish gained popularity, other Japanese chefs began to put their own spin on it, creating a variety of different ramen styles and flavors.

After World War II, ramen became a staple food in Japan, especially for those who had limited access to fresh ingredients.

Instant ramen, a dried and precooked version of the dish, was invented by Momofuku Ando in 1958, which revolutionized the way people consumed ramen around the world.

Today, ramen can be found in many countries and is enjoyed by people from all walks of life. It continues to evolve with new flavors and styles, while also remaining a beloved and iconic part of Japanese cuisine.
