Crispy Edge! Square Potato Pizza!

Today we want to share with you a special post:

Perfect dinner! Square Potato Pizza!

This unique twist on the traditional pizza pie brings together the beloved flavors of pizza with the comfort of roasted potatoes, resulting in a mouthwatering creation that will redefine your pizza experience.

Square Potato Pizza is a tantalizing fusion of crispy, golden potatoes, savory cheeses, zesty sauces, and your favorite pizza toppings, all artfully arranged on a perfectly square, oven-baked crust.

At the heart of this culinary masterpiece is the crust itself. It's not your average pizza dough; it's a carefully crafted square base that's both crisp and tender, offering a delightful contrast to the toppings it cradles.

The secret lies in the baking process, where the crust is meticulously prepared to achieve that perfect balance of textures.

One of the standout features of Square Potato Pizza is, of course, the star ingredient – potatoes.

Thinly sliced and expertly roasted to golden perfection, these potatoes add a satisfying crunch and a subtle sweetness to every bite.

Whether you prefer classic toppings like pepperoni and mozzarella or you're feeling adventurous with unique combinations, Square Potato Pizza provides the canvas for your pizza dreams to come true.

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Potato Topping:

  • 2 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced into rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Pizza Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Pizza Toppings (customize to your preference):

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Sliced bell peppers, onions, olives, or any other desired toppings

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
    • Mix until a dough forms, then knead it on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Potato Topping:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Toss the thinly sliced potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
    • Arrange the potato slices on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden and slightly crispy. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Pizza Sauce:
    • Mix the pizza sauce with dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set it aside.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
    • Roll out the pizza dough into a square shape that fits your baking sheet or pizza stone.
    • Transfer the dough to the baking sheet or pizza stone.
    • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
    • Arrange the roasted potato slices on top of the cheese.
    • Add any additional toppings you like, such as sliced bell peppers, onions, or olives.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy your Square Potato Pizza!

This unique pizza is a delightful combination of crispy potato slices, savory sauce, and melty cheese, all on a perfectly baked square crust. Feel free to customize the toppings to suit your taste, and savor every delicious bite!
